Overall situational picture of security of supply 25 March 2025: No Events Threatening Supply Security
The general situation report on supply security has remained stable throughout early spring 2025. There have been individual delivery disruptions in various sectors, but no events threatening supply security have occurred.
Although the general situation of supply security is stable, tariffs and counter-tariffs imposed by the United States and the EU are causing concern, especially in the industry.
The fighting between Israel and Hamas has continued, exacerbating the crisis in the Middle East. Unrest in Turkey has also increased. From the perspective of supply security, dependencies on the Middle East are minimal.
Three cases of avian influenza of the H5N1 type have been detected in Finland during the beginning of the year. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely as the spring migration of birds approaches and is already partially underway.
There are still minor disruptions in food supply, which are related, among other things, to labor disputes.
EU regulation has increased in recent years, and regulation targeted at large companies appears to be trickling down to subcontractors, burdening various sectors.
The overall situational picture of security of supply compiled by the National Emergency Supply Agency (NESA) examines the challenges in the operating environment from several perspectives. The situational picture report includes an overview of different industries’ ability to function and the challenges they may face.
The NESA updates the overall situational picture once a month and releases a brief summary of the situational picture report. The details concerning industries are classified and are therefore not made public.
