Overall situational picture of security of supply 24 September 2024: No significant changes, suspicious activity has continued
The overall situational picture of security of supply is stable, with no significant changes noted compared to the previous situational picture published a month ago. Suspicious activity has been observed in various sectors, and there have been individual disruptions in the financial sector. There is uncertainty in regard to international commercial supply chains. The aforementioned factors have had no impact on Finland’s security of supply.
Suspicious activity continues to be reported in several sectors. For example, unauthorised persons, GPS interference, drone sightings, break-ins and vandalism have been reported at various sites.
In the financial sector, there have been individual disruptions affecting information and payment systems. These disruptions have had no impact on security of supply.
International commercial supply chains are currently subject to several uncertainties, such as the Red Sea conflict, port strikes in the United States, typhoons in East Asia and flooding in Central and Eastern Europe.
The autumn round of collective bargaining is expected to be difficult, with industrial action considered a possibility.
The overall situational picture of security of supply compiled by the National Emergency Supply Agency (NESA) examines the challenges in the operating environment from several perspectives. The situational picture report includes an overview of different industries’ ability to function and the challenges they may face.
The NESA updates the overall situational picture once a month and releases a brief summary of the situational picture report. The details concerning industries are classified and are therefore not made public.
